There is a particular kind of exhaustion that modern life specializes in. Not the satisfying tiredness that comes from a long hike or a hard day's work, but the low-grade, persistent fatigue of too many screens, too many notifications, too many demands pulling in too many directions at once.

Bjorn and I knew that exhaustion well. And this year, we decided to do something about it.

We did not want a beach. We did not want another city break, another crowded terrace, another destination we had already seen on someone else's Instagram. We wanted something more extreme. More honest. We wanted the Arctic.
